2 Year Old Program

The primary focus of T.E.D.S. is to aid the development of the whole child. Varied learning opportunities will be provided to assist all students to develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. The main focus of the 2 year-old program is social and emotional development.

Social Development

  • Play cooperatively with peers

Emotional Development

  • Adjust to separation from parents
  • Learn self control
  • Begin to accept responsibility for his/her own actions

Art

The students are presented opportunities to:
  • Introduce color, shape, and texture
  • Introduce primary colors and secondary colors
  • Introduce and experience skills with various art media (clay, paint, markers, tissue, etc.)

Health & Safety

The students are presented opportunities to:
  • Introduce body parts and uses
  • Introduce proper nutrition
  • Introduce awareness of good health and safety rules

Language Arts

The students are presented opportunities to:
  • Encourage use of vocabulary, phrases and sentences
  • Encourage use of simple verbs
  • Introduce sequencing of objects and story characters
  • Encourage response to “what,” “when,” and “where”
  • Introduce and develop listening skills
  • Develop understanding of daily routine

Math

The students are presented opportunities to:
  • Introduce rote counting 1-10
  • Introduce relating numbers to self (2 eyes, 1 nose, 5 fingers, etc.)
  • Introduce shapes (triangle, circle, square)
  • Introduce classification of objects by color, shape, and size
  • Develop ability to complete 3-7 piece puzzles

Physical: Fine Motor

  • Paint with large brush
  • Tear paper
  • String five large beads
  • Scribble with markers and crayons
  • Roll, pound, and squeeze clay
  • Build at least a six block tower
  • Work with manipulatives (pegs puzzles stacking rings)
  • Turn single page of book
  • Scrunch tissue paper

Physical: Gross Motor

The students are presented opportunities to:
  • Jump with two feet
  • Clap to music
  • Walk upstairs and downstairs alone
  • Walk on tiptoes
  • Walk on a line
  • Throw a small object 2 feet
  • Catch a rolled ball and rolls it forward

Reading Readiness

The students are presented opportunities to:
  • Share books, poems, and finger plays with children
  • Participate in rhyming games

Religion

  • Feel accepted, loved, and special
  • Say grace before snacks and meals
  • Learn Christian values through experience and example

Science

The students are presented opportunities to:
  • Introduce awareness of the 5 senses
  • Introduce nature and world around us
  • Introduce seasonal and weather changes
  • Develop an awareness of basic concepts: hard/soft; hot/cold; wet/dry

Social Skills

The students are presented opportunities to:
  • Encourage development of self-help skills
  • Encourage development of a healthy concept of self
  • Encourage development of acceptable expression of emotion
  • Encourage development of participation of daily routine and group games
  • Introduce proper manners

Social Studies

The students are presented opportunities to:
  • Introduce concept of ourselves, our families, and the world around us
  • Introduce awareness of holidays
